For 30 years, I kept hearing the same thing: work more to get more.

Where I come from

I come from construction. 30 years in the field.

I spent those years in a company that, deep down, didn't reflect who I was. The message never changed: work, work, work. Family came second. Health came second. Everything came after work.

The wall

Along the way, I fell in love with one thing: processes.

Organizing, clarifying, improving the way work gets done: that always lit me up. I tried every piece of software to get there. But I kept hitting the same wall: I had to adjust to the software, never the other way around. And the smallest improvement cost a fortune.

The turning point

Then I really looked at the people around me.

Exceptional people. Skilled, dedicated, giving everything they have without ever complaining. Working because that's part of life. But getting so little back. It hit me right in the heart. These people deserve more than a paycheck.
